Pol Jeremias Vila is an engineer whose work has influenced filmmaking, game development, and interactive media. He currently builds technology at Thatgamecompany Inc. Prior to this, he helped build teams and technology at Netflix, and served as a senior leader at Pixar Animation Studios, where he played a key role in developing technologies such as Hydra (OpenUSD), Storm, OpenSubdiv, and Presto. At Pixar, Pol contributed to beloved films including SoulLucaTurning RedToy Story 4Incredibles 2Coco, and Finding Dory. Earlier in his career, he worked at LucasArts, where he contributed to the development of The Force Unleashed II as well as Star Wars 1313, a visually ambitious game project that became a touchstone for next-generation storytelling in games.

Pol also co-founded Beautypi, the company behind Shadertoy.com, a platform to share computer graphics knowledge, and Memix, a video enhancement tool acquired by Mmhmm Inc. 

Over the years, he has spoken, and juried work, at multiple conferences around the world including the SIGGRAPH, Game Developers Conference, SIGGRAPH Asia, FMX, GTC, Eurographics among others. He holds a Bachelor's degree from La Salle, Universitat Ramón Llull and a Master’s in Computer Science from the University of Southern California. In 2022, he was honored with the ACM SIGGRAPH Practitioner Award for his contributions to the graphics community.
