John Haley is a highly respected visual effects professional with an outstanding career spanning both film and television, having contributed to numerous Academy Award- and Emmy Award-nominated and winning productions. He currently serves as Visual Effects Supervisor at Marvel Studios on the Disney+ series Vision Quest, following his work on projects such as Wonder Man, Echo, Secret Invasion, Moon Knight and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. His role involves coordinating on-set operations and collaborating with visual effects studios around the world to deliver complex digital sequences.

Prior to joining Marvel, Haley worked as Senior Visual Effects Supervisor at Rhythm & Hues from 2017 to 2020. During this period, he contributed to films including The King's Man, Hellboy, Slender Man and Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, as well as television series such as The Boys, Westworld, The Righteous Gemstones and Lost in Space. His experience spans a wide range of formats, from feature films and television to theme parks and advertising, further establishing his reputation as a specialist in overseeing effects-heavy productions.

A significant portion of Haley’s career was spent at Sony Pictures Imageworks, where he worked for more than a decade and steadily progressed through the ranks, ultimately becoming Overall Visual Effects Supervisor on The 5th Wave. He also played key roles on productions including Pixels, Oz the Great and Powerful, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, supervising both on-set visual effects work and the creation of photorealistic digital environments and characters. In addition, he was a pioneer in the implementation of new digital lighting technologies and stereoscopic photography workflows within the studio.

Haley’s career began at Weta Digital, where he contributed to The Lord of the Rings trilogy by developing autonomous artificial intelligence agents for its epic battle sequences. His work helped define the visual scale of the franchise through large-scale combat simulations.

Educated in Mathematics at Vassar College and Fine Arts at the University of Minnesota, Haley also worked in the video games industry before specialising in visual effects. Throughout his career, he has distinguished himself through his ability to seamlessly integrate digital and live-action elements, contributing to the creation of memorable cinematic worlds.
