Sara Bennett became the second ever female VFX Oscar winner when she received a 2016 Academy Award for best visual effects in Alex Garland’s feature Ex-Machina, for which she also received a 2016 BAFTA Film Award nomination.

She was part of Milk VFX during 13 years, since the company was launched in 2013, the creative team has devised an impressive range of innovative and complex sequences for high-end TV and feature films, winning an Emmy for the BBC/Hartswood’s Sherlock; three consecutive BAFTA Craft awards for the BBC’s Doctor Who (2014 and 2015) and Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell (2016), and receiving eight BAFTA Craft Award nominations.

Sara recently delivered Netflix’s upcoming The Witcher spin off feature Rats for which she was the overall VFX Supervisor. She also fulfilled this role on Sony’s critically acclaimed The Woman King from director Gina Prince-Bythewood. Sara had collaborated with Bythewood on her previous project for Netflix’s The Old Guard, delivering the entire project during lockdown in 2020.
