 Robot Dreams has been the great cinematographic event of Spanish animation this year. Directed by Pablo Berger and produced by Arcadia Motion Pictures, it debuted at the Cannes Festival in 2023 and since then has had a meteoric journey of awards and recognition from the audience and critics that has culminated with the Oscar nomination for Best Animated Film.

In this presentation we will review step by step how this film was created, from the first initial concepts to the final composition by Pablo Berger (director and screenwriter) and Julián Larrauri (production director and delegate producer).

Pablo Berger

Pablo Berger is one of our most renowned and international directors. His debut feature film Torremolinos 73 (2003) won Best Film at the Malaga Film Festival and four Goya Award nominations. Blancanieves (2012) won 10 Goya Awards, including Best Film and represented Spain at the Oscars. Abracadabra (2017) earned 8 Goya Award nominations and was a finalist to represent Spain at the Oscars.

His latest film, Robot Dreams (2023), is his leap into animation. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, won two Goyas (Best Animated Film and Best Adapted Screenplay) and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Film 2024.

Julián Larrauri

Producer, director and screenwriter specialized in the development and production of animated films and series. His projects include Robot Dreams (Pablo Berger, 2023), Luck (Peggy Holmes, 2022), El Parque Mágico (Dylan Brown, 2019) or Mortadelo y Filemón contra Jimmy el cachondo) among others.

Throughout his career he has worked for studios such as Paramount, Skydance, Disney or Netflix. His films have accumulated several awards including four Goyas, three Feroz, three Gaudís, an Annie and an Oscar nomination.
