The Canary Islands Congress Centre opened its doors to the public for the first time on 5 December 1997. Since then, this venue has become a cultural landmark in the capital of Gran Canaria, essential for hosting conferences and all kinds of events, and an emblem of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria throughout the world. The building, designed by architect Óscar Tusquets, is one of the most unique and representative constructions in the city. Located at the end of Las Canteras beach, this isolated and autonomous fortress was conceived as a lighthouse to mark and protect the city.
