Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the launching of the film, TCM premieres 2001 Sparks in the dark, a 20-minute film that recreates the interview with Kubrick that Playboy magazine published in its September 1968 issue and that has become essential when it comes to approaching the reflections and theories that led the director to shoot 2001.

This production reconstructs that encounter through different animation techniques: 2D, 3D and stop motion. A collaborative project carried out from start to finish in Spain, in which Illusorium has been responsible, together with the 3D2D Frente team, to recreate the scene.

Pedro González Bermúdez, director of the film, and Raúl Rocha Regueras, co-founder of Illusorium Studios, will present the project from its origins to the 3D reconstruction of the film. They will talk about how to face the recreation of such an iconic character as Kubrick and how 3D has influenced different animation techniques and the synergies between them.
