In this presentation Head of Character Lab, Chris Uyede will reveal how MPC Film helped create some of the most memorable creatures from recent movies.

MPC Film’s Character Lab expert team of modellers, Groom artists, Riggers and texture artists have worked on characters including Groot (Guardians of the Galaxy), Rachael (Blade Runner), Godzilla (Godzilla), Xenomorph (Alien: Covenant) and of course the animals of The Jungle Book.

Chris graduated from Vancouver Film School in 2000 and worked in the local feature film visual effects industry as a 3D artist at studios including Lost Boys and Technicolor.

He joined MPC’s Vancouver facility in 2008 to work on Zack Snyder’s Watchmen as a CG modeler. Between 2008 and 2011 Chris proved himself as one of MPC’s most talented modeling artists, creating characters and creatures for movies such as Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, Sucker Punch and Source Code.

In 2011 Chris was promoted to Head of Modeling, overseeing MPC’s artists’ crafting complex CG assets for the Academy Award winning Life of Pi and Man of Steel, before transferring to London to lead the team on feature films including Cinderella, The Martian, Passengers, The Jungle Book, Transformers: The Last Knight and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell no Tales.
